Before YourHQ had a single client, it had one build. Mine.
I was deep in my Master of Technological Futures, learning to code, and quietly becoming convinced that owning your corner of the internet wasn’t optional. So I built my own site, DreamStorm, a home for the brand story I’d been carrying around with nowhere to put it.
Something clicked. The process of translating a person, their vision, their values into a digital space that actually feels like them. I loved it. Not just the craft of it, the meaning of it. The way a well-built site can say: this is real, this person is serious, this is worth your time.
That feeling is what YourHQ is built on.

I’m Lian. I do the strategy, the copy, the design, the code, and the looking-after. When you message, I’m the one who replies, and I’m the one who makes the change. No handoffs, no juniors, no account manager translating between you and the person doing the work.
I studied a Master of Technological Futures because I needed to understand where all of this is going. AI, answer engines, the next shift we haven’t named yet. What it gave me wasn’t a qualification, it was a way of thinking: take complex problems, make them simple, and build technology that serves the human at the centre. Every site I build is constructed for the present and ready for what’s coming. You don’t have to understand any of it. That’s my job.
And here’s the personal bit. My dad worked for himself his whole life. Watching him is where my work ethic came from, that quiet pride in doing something well, on your own terms, without waiting for permission. He never had a website. In his day it wasn’t the thing. But I think about what I would have built for him, how I would have made his craft and his reputation permanent and findable and his.
The people I build for are people like him. Good at what they do, built something real, deserving of a digital presence that finally matches it. If that’s you, this work is personal for me in a way no agency can fake.
